3. Once the SportEAR is inserted snugly into the ear canal, adjust the volume to the desired level. Remember that turning the volume control wheel in the direction toward your face increases the volume. Turning the volume control wheel in the direction toward the back of your head decreases the volume.
4. While adjusting the volume, if you hear a whistling sound, simply decrease the volume and the whistling should quit. Whistling can also be caused by a less than snug fit. Make sure the SportEAR fits snugly in the ear canal.
5. Before removing the SportEAR from your ear, be sure to decrease the volume completely.
6. To remove the SportEAR from your ear, place your forefinger under your ear and gently push upward. This action will loosen your SportEAR so that you can grasp the pull cord with your thumb and forefinger, and remove it.
7. After removing the SportEAR from your ear, remember to turn it off to conserve battery power. You can do this by decreasing the volume control wheel until the wheel stops turning. Do not force the volume control wheel beyond that point.
NOTE: If you cannot eliminate feedback (squealing noise) from the unit, you may need a custom shell. Please call 866-422-5502.
CAUTION: If you do not have a snug fit, the unit may not provide the necessary protection from damaging sounds!
Cleaning Your SportEAR To keep your SportEAR operating correctly, you should clean it after each use.
1. Remove the Select-A-Fit™ soft tips. Using the cleaning brush, use the brush to remove any accumulated wax from the exposed sound outlet. If wax is located inside the sound outlet, use the brush to dislodge it. Be careful not to push any wax into the opening of the sound outlet.
2. Using a clean soft cloth or tissue paper, gently wipe the shell until clean. Use the brush to remove any wax from the faceplate.
Testing Your SportEAR Before wearing the SportEAR, test it doing the following: 1. Adjust the volume control wheel to the loudest setting.
2. Place the SportEAR in the cup of your hand and close your hand around it. Figure 9.
3. If you hear a whistling feedback sound, your SportEAR is working correctly. If you do not hear a whistling sound, check that the SportEAR’s volume is set to maximum, that the battery is fresh, or that the battery is installed properly.
